Pepsi's "Play for a Billion" Sweepstakes Begins This Week

Consumers Enter Using Codes Found on Pepsi Products or By Watching ABC's "Summer of a Billion Laughs"

Purchase, NY, May 5, 2004
Starting this week, the ABC Television Network and Pepsi-Cola North America will present the largest promotion in the history of television-and the extraordinary possibility for one lucky person to become a billionaire.

In the Pepsi "Play for a Billion" Sweepstakes, one finalist will be guaranteed to win $1 million on national television, with the chance to walk away with an additional prize of $1 billion.

Damon Wayans, star of ABC's hit comedy series, "My Wife & Kids," will host the culmination event, Pepsi "Play for a Billion," which is currently scheduled to air on Sunday, September 12 at 8:00 p.m., ET/PT, on ABC.

Here's how to enter through Pepsi:

* Beginning this week, check specially-marked Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi and Sierra Mist products for a sweepstakes entry code. The 20-oz and 1-liter bottles are available now; 2- liter, 20-oz, 12-pack & 24-pack will be in stores in mid-June.

* Enter the code on the secure website, www.BillionSweeps.com, powered by Yahoo!

* Through a series of drawings in this sweepstakes and various related promotions, 200 consumers will be randomly selected as sweepstakes winners and will travel to Los Angeles, Calif., for a one-hour primetime special, during which they will compete for a chance to win the $1 billion prize.

* One of the finalists is guaranteed to win $1 million.

Here's how to enter by watching ABC:

* ABC viewers can also enter the Pepsi "Play for a Billion" Sweepstakes through ABC's "Summer of a Billion Laughs" promotion.

* Over seven weeks, from June 21 -- July 26, ABC will spotlight their comedy series-"According to Jim," "8 Simple Rules," "Less than Perfect," "My Wife & Kids," "George Lopez," "Hope & Faith" and "Life with Bonnie."

* The spotlight show of the week will feature a "Play for a Billion" buzzword. Viewers will log on to www.abc.com, keyword billion, and select the buzzword. Those who select the correct buzzword are entered into the sweepstakes for that week.

* Seven lucky people will be randomly selected to become part of the group of 200 contestants who will travel to Los Angeles for the televised event.
